Back when the Chevy Camaro was first launched in 1966, the press was curious about the meaning behind the model’s unusual name. Actually, the name had no real origin and was pretty much a creation of the automaker’s imagination. To give a witty answer to reporters and to send a strong message to the rest of the Detroit competition, product managers explained a Camaro was a small Mustang eating animal. And with those lines the legend of the Camaro, one of the most popular muscle cars, was born.
